Most schools still depend on third party content that is expensive and generic, offering no institutional differentiation. A modular approach to course design, combined with AI tools, can dramatically lower costs while giving institutions genuine control and a means of bringing their pedagogical creativity to life.
Students and faculty are driving AI adoption on their own while institutional strategy struggles to catch up. What's needed is a rethinking of curriculum and assessment that deepens analytic abilities, critical reasoning skills, and subject matter depth rather than truncates them.
